Getting a Healthy Skin!

No make up can make you look beautiful naturally unless you have a beautiful and healthy skin. The break outs, uneven skin tone, dark pigmentation and scars just make you look dull and could kill the look of any wonderful outfit you wear! All women try different products, spend thousands of dollars on skin treatment, to get the beautiful skin. Its very easy to take care of your skin using home remedies. Here are our favorite skin remedies which are easy to try , which come from ancient vedic culture!

Homemade Mask for Oily Skin:

Mix 2 teaspoons of Fuller's earth with 2 teaspoons of chilled rose-water to make a thick paste. Apply on your face with a brush, avoiding the delicate areas around the eyes. Leave it on for about 20 minutes or till completely dry. Rinse with warm water. The result is a clear pinkish youthful skin - all the excess grease and dead cells have been cleared away. The treatment should be used for oily skins once a week but if your skin is really very oily then you can apply it even twice a week.

For Glowing Skin(All Skin Types)

Mix 1 cup of chickpea flour, 3 tablespoon of turmeric powder and almond oil into a bowl to make a paste. Apply all over the face and the body, and then let set for a few minutes. You may leave it on longer if you please. The remove by rubbing off the paste with your hands. The rubbing will help to exfoliate - it actually helps to remove baby (fine) facial hair. Then wash off the rest of the paste.

For Acne Treatment(Oily Skin)

Core 1 apple, leave the skin on and cut it in pieces. Puree the apple parts in a food processor. Add 2 tablespoons of honey and half teaspoon of sage and mix it well until you have a smooth and uniform paste. After keeping it 20 minutes in the fridge, apply on your neck and face, keeping it away from your  eyes. Leave the mask for 30 minutes.

Then wash it off with cold fresh water; pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

Sun Tanning(For Dry Skin)

Peel and cut the 1/4 cucumber into pieces, put it in a blender and puree it. Mash the 1/4 avocado and add the cucumber puree, 1 table spoon of the aloe vera gel and 1 teaspoon of the green tea. Mix it until you have a nice and smooth paste. Apply it on face for 20 minutes then wash it.

PS.
However, to be on the safe side you must always apply the home made face packs on the wrist before using on your face and must always check the expiry date of the ingredients before using them.

I feel like I will go bald!!

I know the title is definitely not funny, atleast not funny to those who are having shortage of hair just like the shortage of water in the world(obviously I am referring to India...and others...). "I will go bald" thats what I mostly hear when my girlfriends start discussing about their hair, thats their first sentence. Now in the whole store filled with the hair products, we (the helpless ladies) worry what to pick and take some new random good looking product to their home to do experiment with their hair(do it...but keep in mind these are your own hair!!). Now what is the best way to prevent hair loss? We keep whining about it ,but we never go to a specialist or to a physician, now, the important thing to note is the cause of hair loss but before it lets try to understand the normal hair growth cycle. The normal cycle of hair growth lasts for 2 to 3 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this phase.

About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time. About 10 percent of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 3 to 4 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children. That means its totally normal to shed around 10% of your hair!! If you have problem beyond that, then its serious.

             Causes:
1. Surgery, continuous illness for three to four months.
2 Hypo thyroid, hyper thyroid
3.Hormonal imbalance.
4.Vitamin D & Iron deficiency
5. Medicines-medicines used for gout, high blood pressure or heart problems, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants, Vitamin A.
6.Fungal/ bacterial infections.
7. Hereditary
8. Extreme temperatures(heat...mostly)

Now I think if you are wise enough ,you must have understood that why it is important to go to a specialist. Out of these there might be any underlying cause and I am sure which you can't decide or predict on your own. I had iron deficiency so I started taking iron supplement and it helped. Now my hair fall rate is 50% lesser than before. Now the question is "can my hair loss be prevented?" Yes, mostly. Various treatments are available. If a medicine is causing your hair loss, your doctor may be able to prescribe a different medicine. Recognizing and treating an infection may help stop the hair loss. Correcting a hormone imbalance may prevent further hair loss.Medicines may also help slow or prevent the development of common baldness. One medicine, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), is available without a prescription. It is applied to the scalp. Both men and women can use it. Another medicine, finasteride, is available with a prescription. It comes in pills and is only for men. It may take up to 6 months before you can tell if one of these medicines is working. So, patience is the mantra.

Some Hair Care Basics:
1. Massage your hair with oil(Coconut oil or olive oil)
2. Make braids before you sleep.
3.Get rid of split ends regularly.
4.Keep your Scalp clean.
5. Go herbal! Use herbal hair products, natural conditioners like egg yolk, henna, multani mitti, shikakai(Go to Indian store to get these).
6. Lessen the use or curling iron or hot iron, rollers, hair dryer
7. Don't tie your hair tightly, let them breathe.
8. Comb your hair atleast thrice a day.

All what I want to say is that take good care of yourself.....because you are very special!! Every woman should love herself. I love myself like crazy and I want all of my readers to realize that if they will not love themselves, how can they expect others to fall for them!!

What Should I Really Become?

Find the real you!!

Hi Fashionistas,

Now that me and my lovely readers have become confidante, I wanted to pen down a few thoughts about men.I am not very good in understanding men just the way they are poor in understanding us. Sometimes I used to find myself stuck with the reality and the fantasy . Why is it that most men dream of models and celebrities like Heidi Klum or Gisele, but when we try to become like them(in which most of us fail terribly) we are criticized or people make fun of us. The point is most of us really keep modifying ourselves so as to adjust and mingle with the people around, to be loved and liked by others. I wonder then where this line "Be Yourself" plays its part. Why is it if these gorgeous girls(celebs and models) hide themselves behind thick sheets of make up they are said to be beautiful and if we try to conceal our imperfections, others think we show off. Where is the balance? What is the right way to be? Is it in being yourself or being adjusting.?

Brooke Elliot: A true diva!

We all have imperfections and most of us are not lucky enough to afford those high cost surgeries or expert advise. People spend most of their lives in thinking about the right way to be. Is the path to the enlightenment goes only to the Sanyasa(The life of hermits as in Hinduism) or through just finding balance between the situations? Alright, girlfriends, I am not going to write a second Sex & the City book. All what I want to say is that, doing things which make you happy is not always wrong as long as it is not hurting others. There is nothing wrong if you are not tall and you wear heels, there is nothing wrong if you have freckles and you use concealer to hide them. Some of us wear plus sizes, but we are still blessed and beautiful. Its alright to hide imperfections as long as you don't feel ashamed of the true you! The world may criticize you for several things but if you stand tall and face the truth, if you have the courage, whatever the world has to say about you does not matters. “As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.”, said Carrie in Sex & the City.Life is too short to worry about every one in this world(as such the world population 6.92 billion ), so live your life your way.If you love to dress up little extra, its alright! Just be yourself, Love yourself!

Have faith  in yourself!
