We Want The Hippies Back!!

The bell Bottoms...Super Flares!! The Colorful Scarves and Head wraps

The youth movement of the 60's era is still popular and the most enticing aspect of the Hippies is their sense of style and fashion. Hippie fashions and values had a major effect on culture, influencing popular music, television, film, literature, and the arts. Since the widespread movement in the 1960s, many aspects of hippie culture have been assimilated by mainstream society. The religious and cultural diversity espoused by the hippies has gained widespread acceptance, and Eastern philosophy and spiritual concepts have reached a wide audience. The hippie legacy can be observed in contemporary culture in myriad forms — from health food, to music festivals, to contemporary sexual mores, and even to the cyberspace revolution. What I like the most about it is that colors played the vital part in the fashion and the carelessness and freeness in the clothes, an expression of the freedom from all the world barriers.

Sexy maroon jeans worn with white  furs just overturned the whole look!!

I somehow find myself fascinated by the comfort and the looseness in the clothes, the air that skin can breath in....Okay,I stop now I am getting way poetic about it!! But all I want to say is that the hippie fashion is timeless. So, you can always embrace a few things of this fashion revolution. For 2011, I think flares are the hottest bottoms in which you can see the famous people around like Hanneli from Vogue, etc.

Flare Jeans :The hottest trend 2011

Talking about bottoms who can forget about those red, blue, green jeans of the hippie era, In the recent blog we featured so many celebs in the colored pants and jeans. So all I have to say about it is that hug the vintage, hug the colors. I think when you get out dressed in bright colors, it feels as beautiful as standing in a garden full of flowers, charming and heart rendering. Take out your old jeans out and fall in love with them all over again!

Talking about bottoms who can forget the Jenny of 'The Forrest Gump' in those long gorgeous skirt and bead string headband. I think it was really fashionable. She looked superbly gorgeous in those furry coats, vintage blouses and huge bags. The full skirt never go out of trend, they are perfect for a beach or for shopping.

Full skirt collection from Ritu Kumar

A style out of the world!

Not to forget the beaded bracelets and the necklace.Lots of accessories may look gross sometimes but if paired right multi stranded chains and necklace may steal the show sometimes. If the dress is simple one can wear lot of beaded necklaces to add glamor to  the look.

A beautiful combination of jewelery put in a right way!
Cavalli's Collection

I found Roberto Cavalli's summer 2011 gowns looked inspired by the hippie fashion as well, the collection was well received by the critics, hippie style is never out of style. The comfort is one most important thing to have when dressed in designers. I love the way the gowns were loose fitted and transparent giving a carefree attitude. The fringe bags looked great. Colorful bags, hobo style , looks great on all the outfits.

This look is indeed hippie but this had mixed reviews by the stylists about Sarah Jessica Parker, a few positive, a few negative, what I liked the most is her jeans but I did not like her Tee.

I like her jeans, did you notice the painted birds and the fringe jacket that she is wearing.

Carefree yet hot!

An idea worth considering

Not just me even stars love the hippie trend, the crochet which is the current hot trend also gives a mid 60's look. Finally, keeping in mind a few key elements of the beloved hippie look is the kohl eyes, those smoky eyes, enticing and sultry, say a lot themselves, a free expression of your ideas through your make up, tattoos, kohls and face painting. Here is a quick look:

An idea how to dress!

Vannesa features in the crochet blouse, lots of bracelets and feather  earrings with face painted.
She looks very cute!

Not to forget the tie and dye, the beautiful tie and dye leggings with the loose tunics can never go out of style. The real way to dress stylish is to take something vintage and mix it with something of present. Pick any of these highlighted aspects of the hippie fashion and add it to your current stuff for something different, something incomparable just the way you are.
